Verklärte Nacht
Just
22 years old, Alina Ibragimova has impressed critics around the world
with her ability to combine abandonment and control in equal measures.
Hartmann carried the German musical legacy left by Mahler and Bruckner
through the darkest years of the twentieth century. Schoenberg's deeply
romantic tone poem, Transfigured Night, depicts a young couple walking
in the moonlight, an ultimately consoling end to an evening of rich string
sounds.
'I
love the open, honest quality of her playing. The sounds she produces
is mesmerising: powerful yet never overdriven, golden-toned and with a
lovely singing quality. Then there is her near faultless intonation. Best
of all, however, she is adventurous.' The Times
