Britten Sinfonia

Latest Releases

SinfoniaCast09 is an introduction to the Britten Sinfonia At Lunch series, which kicked off in Krakow on Sunday 30 November with a fantastic concert featuring a new work by Charlotte Bray alongside a slightly older one by her former teacher Colin Matthews, and pieces by Chopin and Mozart. In our latest SinfoniaCast, Fiona Talkington hears from Colin and Charlotte about their collaboration and their music. For more information about the performances, visit the concert page.

Britten Sinfonia's newest CD release is a recording of Poulenc's Gloria and Motets. This collaboration with Stephen Layton's Polyphony, with soprano Susan Gritton and the choir of Trinity College, Cambridge, garnered fantastic reviews. It was Editor's Choice in the April 2008 edition of Gramophone magazine, which noted the "powerful music making which gives the Gloria an unfettered sense of joy." Further high praise came from BBC Radio 3's Building a Library, who cited the recording as one of the best ever made of the Gloria.

Britten Sinfonia CDs are available to buy through Hyperion, at our concerts or in all good music stores.
